Traveler

Good morning!  Another hot summer day on tap, yuk!  It was pretty quiet here yesterday.  I have been vacuum cleaner issues for awhile and finally yesterday it is working properly and my carpet is starting to look much better!  woohoo.

Another "Work of Art" to share.  Because this is a masculine card, I didn't add any pretty accessories, but I am wishing I had as it looks pretty bare.  I decided to share though because it is such an easy card to make and showcases the versatility of this stamp set.

Thanks to Cindy Techlin for sharing her design.

With Sympathy

It's so hard to lose someone you love and too many of my friends are losing loved ones but I am seeing "celebrations of life' as opposed to "funerals" which does remind me that our loved one is now with God in a place that is more beautiful than we can imagine and they are free of pain now!  It's hard to be selfish knowing that.

Thank You Work of Art

It's hump day!  If you are reading this, then you made it through another one!!  Congratulations.

I'm so thankful for cooler temps.  Yesterday was rather a long one as they installed the new part for my air conditioner.  I think it took a couple of hours so I wasn't able to get much done.  But today is better and I have a physical therapy and a doctor's appointment checked off of my calendar.

Do you like the look of watercoloring but don't know how?  Here I used only one stamp and 3 colors of ink pads to create this beautiful background for my big thank you!  You might be noticing lighter hues of the same color here.  Thant's a good thing.  I stamped the image using one color 2 times, without reinking.

HI

Yikes!  My air conditioner coil sprung a big leak last week. For Friday and the weekend, maintenance added freon every day but It was pretty warm in here during the afternoon & evening.  Then yesterday we had to shut it off and a portable one was installed  in my bedroom.  It is very comfortable in there but it is like 90 degrees in the living room and kitchen.  I'm told it should take only a day or two for the part to be replaced.

My card today was another fun one made using the Work of Art stamp.

I enjoyed creating the "HI" by using the negative space.   The chevron pattern with the 3 different colors is my stamped image.  I was able to achieve this by coloring it with 3 different Stampin' Write Markers.  It's like grown up coloring!  The other designs are washi tape - so pretty and so quick!!

Hooray For Today

Hi everyone.  Did you have a good weekend?  I hope so.  Saturday was our all-day stamping event at Joy's house.  We had so much fun.  We had 2 make and takes in the morning and again in the afternoon, so I got to play with new stamps and designs and a pretty card to take home.  Lunch was a taco bar that was sooo good.  After our afternoon make and takes, we played several Minute to Win It games.  I've listed them below.  Oh my gosh, these were hysterical!

Face the cookie - place a cookie on a player’s forehead, using only your facial muscles, move the cookie to your mouth.  (mine kept falling off my face)

Pedometers on headbands - 1 minute to rack up as many steps as you can by shaking your head  (each person looked weirder and funnier than the last one - too funny)

The marshmallow game - how many marshmallows can you pick up with chopsticks?

Sorting Skittles by color - how many can you do in 1 minute?  (this was our last game and Sandy was one of our last players.  Did I mention she is competitive?  Well she started taking handfuls of Skittles instead of a single color hoping she could get enough of one color at the end to win.)

Have some fun at home and play one of these, or all of them,  with your friends/family.

Today's card was super fun to make using red, white and blue for the 4th of July!

Sharing in Your Sorrow

I have learned that the husband of a friend of mine has passed away and wanted to let her know that I was thinking of her.  Tess & I go back to my early years at Southwestern Bell.  There were three of us who shared birthdays within days of each other so we would celebrate them together in an evening out.  Always lots of laughs and fun!  We also shared an interest in ballroom dance and were taking lessons to learn how.

Later this afternoon I'll be heading out to my physical therapy appointment, I am looking forward to my 30 minute workout.  I'll stop for my Mocha Almond Concrete at Sheridan's before heading home. Now that is only something an addict would understand!

Thanks for spending a few minutes with me, keep cool.

So Sweet of You

Hi!  It is 108 degrees here with the heat index.  I hope you are inside with the air conditioning stamping or scrapbooking.  It's just too hot to be outside.  I had a quiet day yesterday and very little was accomplished I'm sad to say.  It was, however, a perfect day for some cold, refreshing watermelon.  Alas, I did not have any so I created my own.  Isn't it adorable?
