I had planned to post a recent stamp project tonight, but have had problem uploading from my iphone. Will try again tomorrow.

I am busy planning a stamp party at my place at the end of August. My goal is to make one new project a night but I'm starting to think that is not possible, maybe one every other night would be more obtainable. I haven't come up with a name yet. The theme will be around Summer events like hot air ballons, pinwheels, ice cream cones, carnivals and such. Any suggestions are so welcome!

Just watched a new TV show called Unnecessary Roughness about a therapist (mental health) working for a football team. Both are at the top of my list of things I enjoy. (chuckling to myself) I really enjoyed the show. The main character is female & a therapist. She was able to put a $3 million dollar a year wide receiver in his place! It was a funny & touching show.

Welcome to my newly designed blog. This is a place for me to share my love of scrapbooking, card making, and generally any kind of paper crafting. I believe each one of us is born with creativity, and sometimes it just needs to be awakened - "Awaken Your Creativity"

I will also be sharing my experiences with depression. Creating heals! It is so true. Depression is so very difficult to understand for those that don't have it and even for those who do. I'm afraid that there are many people will never be able to understand.

Even though I have attended, Sunday School, Bible School & church since I was young, it is only now that I am learning what is in the Bible and how much of it fits into my everyday life. It also has great healing powers.

Blue Christmas

I'd like to share some of Pastor's message from our service last night & a few of my own.

Why Blue Christmas? Because the joy of the season is absent. And, because the heart of the season is Christ - our encouragement in and out of season. Because I frequently have difficulty finding the words to express myself, these sentences really spoke to me. There is so much emotion unseen in our lives that when someone can put words to it provides so much clarity, which is often tied to treating depression which I can relate to as key to my healing. It has become my mission to educate my little corner of the world and those suffering with depression & their loved ones as they look to you for help.

First and foremost, being blue is being human. Don't let anyone tell you to get over it, or just get out of bed and go to work. You will have to lovingly excuse that person for their ignorance. Psalm 88 - for my soul is full of trouble and my life draws near the grave. I am as one without strength. I am set apart with the dead.

Feeling utterly alone and abandoned by all or "the darkness is my closest friend" is what depression does to us. That is your clue to find someone who can council you through it. You may not want to see another day, but I promise you that it will get better.

How many of us are struggling financially and maybe we are even homeless? Christ Jesus, who is fully human and fully divine, was born poor and homeless. He knows how we feel! But wait, there's more. When he died he was criminal, crucified and rejected!!

I'd like to leave this jewel with you. Christ Jesus is our Savior. That is just a little too vague for me, but when it is explained that He doesn't take away my loss, sorrow or suffering but he joins me in it! That is just powerful.

Tonight I want to share my thoughts on Pastor's message this weekend. The theme was "Jesus Teaches About . . . Faith."

Jesus told this parable to some who trusted n themselves that they were righteous, and treated others with comtempt. (Luke 18:9)

". . . when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?"

He started with telling us that 2 men went to the temple to pray - they stand before God. Can you imagine what that is going to be like? The first is a holy man. He does all the right things, but has the wrong heart. He trusts only himself. The second is an ordinary man & does all the wrong things but he trusts in God.

What is meant by faith on earth? It means God wants us to trust in Him not in ourself. Having grown up in the Lutheran faith, I still find that difficult. Even though God has helped me thru some very difficult times in the past few years, I still find it difficult to rely on Him instead of myself. I think that even Pastor or my fellow ChristCare ladies find this difficult. So I wonder what must it be like for someone who does not know what little I have learned about God. People who commit crimes, who are hopeless, in poverty, ill, and so many others - I can't imagine what they believe in. What gets them thru the day.

The world seems worse than it ever has been, there seems to be no way we can turn around the brokeness that we have become. Yet, Pastor says with God, there is hope.

Then when you think about Jesus he is the only sinless one.- the one who alone could stand before God without bowing down in search of mercy.

And what does he do? He humbles himself in accepting the suffering and death of the cross. The one who is without sin takes on our sin.

We are forgiven.

Jesus said "Let the children come to me . . . for to such belongs the kingdon of God." LIttle ones have that special childlike faith. When you are around a little girl or boy you can't help but be amazed at the the love, trust, and faith that they have, we all fall in love with them and maybe we wish we could get some of that back for ourselves.

As much as we think we are doing God's work, we are not God and never will be. We are all sinners, noone is better that the other, we should not judge others because we have not lived in their shoes, we should however share our love and compassion with them.

Recently I was able to help a friend out who's hostess wanted a Halloween themed workshop and this holiday is not one her favorites so she didn't really have any current products. Since she knew I had ordered everything on one of our Halloween pages in the current mini, she asked if I could help her. I was so glad to be able to repay her for the many kind things that she has done for me. When she returned my items she had included the above stamped image knowing I didn't have it & that I love it. Check out my ghosts! They were so simple & they are soooo cute! The large one was punched out with the Wide Oval punch and the smaller one with the Small Oval punch. I used Whisper White CS & the Basic Black Marker for the eyes. The card base is Tangerine Tango and the DSP is Nite Owl. I used our new Waffle paper in black & Pear Pizzazz for the matting. The verse is from Teeny Tiny Phrases stamped in VersaMark, adding Whisper White Embossing Powder on top, melted it with my heat gun & there you have it! Oops I used silver brads from Vintage Brads - this configuration has retired.

I just love this card! Why do I sound so surprised you may ask. It's because I am not a fan of the color green. The colors here are Wild Wasabi, Garden Green, Crumb Cake & Very Vanilla. When I saw this new DSP in our catalog that came out in August, I was definitely drawn to it. So recently I decided to order it to fill my need for new DSP. Wild Wasabi is a current color brought back from several years ago, I still had an unopened package of 8-1/2 x 11 cs.

My life has changed dramatically in the last 6 months. I've faced new challenges and have learned to live with the losses in my life. Major depression robs you of so many basic functions, I will go into this some other time. For those of you who frequent my site, my apologies for not posting regularly. One of my challenges has been to find a new photo software program as I fried the motnherboard on 2 computers and lost everything I had stored in them. Thru my friend Kathy, I discovered Picassa. This week I have incredible SWAPS to share with you. First we were to create a Mother's Day project using watercolor pencils or crayons in a technique new to us. In this technique I used our Watercolor Wonder Crayons & a line image stamp, in this case Asian Artistry - an exclusive Hostess set. Using the crayon I first colored the stamp with it, spritzed it 3 times with water, spritzed a piece of watercolor paper with water 3 times & stamped the image. Using my heat tool I dried the image & then using Basic Black ink I stamped the same image over the the one I just created it. I am a huge fan of watercoloring, but I don't feel I'm very good at it. But, I do like how this turned out. Hope you like it also. Thanks so very much for stopping by and taking a look.

A friend from church has been asking me to bring my cards in as she was wanting to purchase some & also needed some as a thank you from the church. I finally accomplished this task last week.

The second project we used the Decor Elements Flutter in Tempting Turquoise. Several of us had never used DE so was a fun and WOW project for them.

The design of the card came from Christy Charles with a a few changes on my part.

Friday was our monthly stamp meeting. At our meeting I shared a couple of new ideas. One was a new technique. We stamped the flower image using Versamark onto a coffee filter, embossed with Whisper White, using an AquaPainter filled in with color, let it dry, then carefully tore around the edges. The flowers look so soft and pretty.

I have some of the best friends available! Thank you Lisa. I just got this stamp set yesterday so of course I wanted to play with it as soon as I awoke.

Several years ago in Ann Arbor, MI I found this wonderful hand-made paper storecalled Hollanders. Here is their website. http://www.hollanders.com/ & immediately I fell in love. That year for Christmas Deanna gave me a gift certificate for that store. Sadly, I am just now using it. Recently I made a card for Kathy who loves Asian inspired cards & I'm thinking that my sister may like that style also. I wanted to send her a card as a thank you for sending 2 huge boxes of her clothes that are too big for her as she has lost over 70 pounds. I am so proud of both of my sisters for their weight losses.

God give me the strength to do the same.

Lisa's birthday is also today. Quinn Turns 16!

It's hard to believe he is 16 today. I wish I could celebrate with the family but it is just not meant to be.

This was a real challenge for me to create because I didn't have any stamps that I thought would work for a 16 year old young man. I found the paper in my stash from Karen Foster Design, then selected Bordering Blue for the card base. I had decided to use the Jock Talk stickers from State of Mine. The DSP is from Urban Oasis.

Is this not the prettiest card you have ever seen? Lisa had made this card awhile back & I just flipped over it! When we got together to stamp recently, she brought this card for us to make. Thanks Lisa!

We used Whisper White CS, Vintage Vogue Stamps and the Very Vintage Wheel with Chocolate Chip ink, I think. We stamped the floral design in Versamark and embossed it in white, then sponged in Taken with Teal and I can't remember the other color. After that we took a paper towel and wiped off the ink from embossed images.

I just got Martha Stewart's Cupcake punch tonight and had to play with it as soon as I got home! I went looking for a sketch at SCS and found SC206. Love how it turned out. It's quite bright, though. Not one you would like to get if you're having a migrane. (chuckle)

I Like It A Latte

Here's another card that let me use scraps. I used the Coluzzle to cut a circle, cut that in half, put it up on Dimensionals. Punched a Certainly Celery Green circle out of cs, then took my 1" Circle punch and centered it over the 1st punched out portion to make the handle for my coffe cup. Stamped the steam in Versamark, embossed with Clear Embossing Powder, added some ribbon and voila. Isn't it sweet? Thanks for stopping by.

A Bit Of Fun

I thought I would share with you an email I just sent to my fellow demo's discussing this month's swap as I was having a bit of fun this morning.

My BS project will be the Mini Milk Carton Die. Haven't decided on the theme yet. I personally am in the mood for Easter so I wouldn't mind all Easter projects. However, I will explore other options.

I suppose I could do a Baby theme, not necessarily a Holiday idea. Hmm, that gives me an idea. I'll be right back.

March 14 is the National Saving Time Day which actually runs thru the end of November. I could do a one-layer project. Laziness comes easy to me! Note to self - clear my calendar thru November.

Then there is Spring, an event of new growth. Hmm, new growth. That's totally opposite of afore mentioned Saving Time Day. Let's keep looking.

Ooh, April Fool's Day, that could be fun. I'm thinking cards that a rabbit pops out at ya. Gotcha, gotcha, gotcha. Isn't that a song? I must have that in my music collection. Please, please let me know the title and artist.

Okay now, Deloris is getting her groove on. Need more inspiration. Feb. is Natl Adopt a Rescued Rabbit's month and so is Pull Your Sofa Off The Wall. You know those are 2 things that I would strongly suggest each of us do this month, HGTV's designer David Bromstad would be so proud of us. Would you like a rabbit for your farm? I truly think that they are one of the scariest animals God has created.

It was cold, cloudy and snowy today. Not a good day to be outside. Earlier in the week I hurt my knee so I have been in a lot of pain with that. With the weather and the shape my knee was in, I guess it was a good day to stay in. Luckily I was inspired to create this card.
